Get Organized Month Updates
Here it is January 31st: the final day of Get Organized Month.  I made it through a full month of my Go Electronic plan and I’m happy to report it was a complete success.  I love using Calengoo (and saying its name) on my iPhone and using Google Calendar and Tasks on my computer.  Because checking the box when a Task is complete is almost as fun as marking it off a hand-written list, I...

Forgotten Leftovers
A few nights ago, I took advantage of my boyfriend being out of town to try a recipe for broccoli soup.  (He’s a little resistant to the idea that an entree without meat can be a meal.)  It turned out ok, but I planned to add a bit more cheese when I reheated the leftovers later.  I took the remaining soup from the stockpot and put it into smaller Pyrex (wondrous, wondrous Pyrex) containers....

The Gift of Changing Lives
Before the holidays, on the Order Up Organizing Facebook page, we listed some clutter-free gift ideas.  There were lots of ideas ranging from food, to gift cards, to Netflix subscriptions.  While I like to think she was following along with those posts, on Christmas morning my sister surprised me with a gift that most definitely should have made the list. A Kiva gift card!  If you are not...

My Kitchen Before & After Pictures
I’m proud to report that this weekend’s kitchen painting project was a complete success!   After lots of prep, a few “oops” & “uh ohs”, more than one of Dad’s cheesy jokes (the ladder “has its ups & downs, but in the end it’ll be worth it”), and one gray-tailed dog, the kitchen is painted and the chair rail is hung!  We worked...

Asking for Project Help
Not only will January be filled with the learning curve of my GO Month “Go Electronic” plan, but I’ll finally be accomplishing a project I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.  For Christmas, I asked my family for their help in finally painting my kitchen. Over the years, I’ve had a new tile floor put in, painted the cabinets, and added new hardware.  All the...

January is Get Organized Month
Along with “lose weight” and “save money”, “get organized” is a very common New Year resolution.  It makes sense that the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) chose January for Get Organized (GO) Month.  It’s the time of year we think of starting fresh with a clean slate. For Go Month 2011, I’ve decided to try a switch from a pen...
